Lorcaserin is a drug designed to help weight loss for those suffering from obesity .The drug was manufactured by the Arena Pharmaceutical .It was in the year 2010 the FDA voted against the drug .The unanimous decision was taken while keeping in mind the efficacy and safety of the drug. Finally during the month of October FDA announced that they cannot approve the drug because of the presence of lorcaserin .In spite of repeated warning there were individuals who started using the drug. It was a matter of time when they realized the ill effects of the drug. The drug is extremely harmful for human body and is strictly forbidden for pregnant. Some of the reported side effects are.
- Cardiovascular conditions like peripheral edema (by 4.8%) and hypertension (by 5%)is a common side effect of this drug.
- The common Genitourinary condition related to this drug is severe UTI( urinary tract infection) as high as 9 %.
- Some of the common gastrointestinal side effects are vomiting and nausea feeling ( by 9.5%), dry mouth(by6%), toothache(by 3%), decreased appetite(by 3%),gastroenteritis(by 3 %), constipation(by 6%)
- The drug is also known to have Hypersensitivity condition like severe seasonal allergy (by 3%)
- Some of the common immunologic conditions of this drug are high level of prolactin .The excess level of prolactin can cause gynaecomastia ( in men) and galactorrhea.
- The drug is known to have hypersensitivity conditions like rashes and allergy on the upper epidermis.
- Some of the common metabolic condition is known to occur with patients suffering from diabetes mellitus are hypoglycemia (by 30%) and deteriorating diabetes mellitus (by 3%)
- Some of the common Hematologic condition are less WBC and RBC.These are serious conditions and can lead to numerous complications like neutropenia, leucopenia, anemia, lymphopenia, hematocrit and less hemoglobin.
- The drug is known to have numerous Musculoskeletal like severe back ache (by12%), muscle spasm (by 5%), musculoskeletal pain (by 2.5%).
- The drug is known to effect the nervous system of patients consuming the drug for prolong period of time. Some of the common side effects are headache (by7%), dizziness (by 7.5%) and fatigue (by8%).
- The drug is known to have an adverse Psychiatric effect like insomnia (by 4 %), anxiety (by 4%), stress (by 3 %), cognitive impairment (by3 %) and DEPRESSION (by 3 %).
- The drug is known to have negative effects on our respiratory system. Some of the common respiratory conditions are %) or pharyngeal pain (by 4 %), cough(by 8 %),RTI ( by 14 %), nasopharyngitis (by 12 %).

- Sweating, tremor, uneven heart rate.
- Flu, sore throat and mouth.
- Mood swing.
- Sudden decrease of blood sugar leading to hunger, confusion, dizziness, headache, sweating etc.
- Finally the drug is completely for bidden for ladies who breast are feeding their kids since till date it has not been confirmed whether the drug is safe for just born kids.
