Why You Should Never Follow Conventional Dating Advice Too Closely
Since it seems like almost everyone is keeping track of dating advice these days, you may feel the urge to do the same. That is understandable.
But, it is best to take any advice in moderation only, especially when dating is the center. Crossing the line is never a good thing. That is, even if you do follow dating advice put forth by popular circles, you should filter any advice to suit your style and personality. You should never follow conventional dating advice word to word.
That is because if you do that:
You risk becoming too boring
Most conventional dating advices are not too exciting in any way. Dating advice which have been circulating for a while are somewhat boring for the most part, in general. Conventional advice can be even monotonous, at times. Suggestions like you must meet or dine your date in an expensive restaurant during the first date, you must act in a certain way, you must stick to a set of certain topics during your conversation etc. are just too plain to be frank.
You get very predictable
Another issue is that when you follow dating advice closely, your date may get the vibe that you are putting on an act. Even worse, your date may be able to predict your future moves with accuracy. That is not at all good or praiseworthy, no matter how you look at it. That is because dating requires a bit of anticipation and mystery building in order to be truly effective. If your actions and words are too predictable for the most part, then you are going to lose points pretty fast.
You seem like everyone else
Since most people follow popular dating websites closely, you become like everyone else in a sense when you do the same thing. There is almost no newness about you. And there are certainly no surprises to be excited about. That can put your date off pretty fast.
You act like another person
In order to be successful, dating requires a person to hold on to his individual ways and values to a large extent. If all your words, actions and gestures are reflections of someone else, then there is no YOU to be seen. And if you do not show your true personality, and instead act and act and act some more, all your dating efforts are bound to fail sooner or later!
